The products bought by C.G. Timmermans & Zn. must comply with the most stringent of requirements. For this C.G. Timmermans & Zn. enter into clear agreements with growers and auctions in advance. The entire course from grower to point of sale is monitored. The grower, for instance, has to keep a record in the growing period of all materials with which the fruit has been treated. Naturally the grower has to comply with the Eurep Gap requirements. The growers are guided in this by Holland Fruit Advies (HFA - Holland Fruit Advice) so that they comply with these requirements.
Together with the growers, the HFA looks for the best methods of cultivation, both from an environmental and economic point of view. The fruit is tested in independent laboratories for the materials used and for residues. In these projects, not only is the treatment of the fruit examined but also hygiene at the fruit growers, nature conservancy, environmental protection, the safety and working conditions of the employees. Because of their active support of these projects, C.G. Timmermans & Zn. can guarantee that the products supplied are of the quality promised. Another advantage of this close co-operation is that cultivation can be planned. Through the exchange of information between suppliers and buyers, growers can decide which fruit sort they wish to cultivate and what amounts of these sorts they wish to supply.
C.G. Timmermans & Zn's buyers are from international supermarket chains and food concerns. They supply fruit to increasingly critical consumers or they process the food into confectionery, juice or puree. These companies demand, and rightly so, the first cholce in quality fruit, prompt delivery and the best service available. Because we cooperate closely with a number of specialist Dutch transport companies we are able to deliver almost every quantity desired at any desired moment to any desired place. C.G. Timmermans & Zn. do have their own trucks, but contracts out most of the transport to specialist companies.
