C. G. Timmermans & Zn.

Kees Timmermans established the company of C.G. Timmermans & Zn. in 1905. He picked fruit in and around Veen with his sons and sold it in areas where there was not as much fresh fruit available. Trade in apples and pears thrived and shortiy after the Second World War the first exports took place. Initially to Germany where there was a great demand tor fresh fruit and later to other countries as well. And now we supply to countries throughout Europe.

At that time, too, Timmermans & Zn. did not sell to individual customers, but to wholesalers. A strategy that has changed little since then. In recent years fruit has been sold directly to supermarkets and fruitprocessing industries to an increasing extent. The specialization in apples and pears remained unchanged throughout all these years. These two kinds of fruit still make up 95% of our company's turnover.

About two thirds of the apples and pears traded come directly from growers, auctions and producers' cooperatives like The Greenery and Fruitmasters from Dutch Soil. The rest of the fruit is bought in over the entire world, including Chile, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Brazil.

lt is partly due to our international approach that our company has now grown into one with 20 people in permanent employment and another 15 who work on a callup basis.

The management is formed by the two brothers, Jan and Arno and their cousin Thijs Timmermans, supported by a team of loyal employees.
